Job Summary
The selected self-motivated candidate will, under the direction of his/her Clinical Engineering Manager and
Lead Technician, repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect diagnostic imaging equipment. The candidate
will also perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing on diagnostic imaging equipment. The
candidate will be responsible for maintaining documentation as specified in the Clinical Engineering Medical
Equipment Plan in accordance with Joint Commission standards.
Duties include:
z Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect diagnostic imaging systems
z Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of diagnostic imaging systems.
z Provide inventory control, assessments, and audits.
z Maintain documentation of all actions and test results according to department policy.
z Periodically travel to other facilities to perform service activities.
z Perform rounds in assigned areas and participate in on-call rotation.
z Serve as a resource to user departments by providing assistance and instruction on proper use of
z Ensure Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliance.
Required Qualifications*
Associate’s degree in biomedical equipment technology or equivalent (such as military biomed training) and
attendance at a Basics in Radiology Equipment course (such as RSTI); or the equivalent in background and
experience with a diagnostic imaging service provider. Minimum of 4 – 7 years of experience in the field of
diagnostic imaging systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
z Knowledge of electronic theory, technology, and test equipment.
z Knowledge of radiology theory and technology.
z Knowledge of safety precautions when servicing high voltages and working with ionizing radiation.
z Knowledge of mechanical systems and tools.
z Knowledge of basic networking theory.
z Ability to analyze electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical equipment.
z Ability to isolate, test, and replace defective parts.
z Ability to maintain accurate records of repairs, calibration, and tests.
